Your data at the tamarack desk

Revised 1 November 2026

The short version of our data story

Tamarackarcade is a reading site. There are no accounts, no sign-up forms, no comment boxes and nothing to buy, so we collect very little about you. We run no analytics service and no advertising trackers. This page explains the small amount of data that does move around when you visit, and what you can do about it.

Your shortlist lives on your own device

When you tap the heart on a game, we save that choice in your browser’s localStorage so the list is still there when you come back. Your answer to the cookie notice is saved the same way. Both stay inside your own browser on your own device; nothing about them is sent to us.

You can remove them whenever you like by clearing your browser data for this site. The shortlist and the notice choice will then disappear, and the notice will ask again on your next visit. A shared shortlist link simply carries the game names in the address so a friend can open it.

Fonts and the one outside request

Our pages use typefaces served by Google Fonts. To deliver those files, Google receives your IP address and basic details about your browser, as any web server would when sending a file. Google handles that information under its own privacy policy. We do not receive it, and we use the fonts only to make the site readable and pleasant to look at.

Emails that reach Larkin’s desk

If you email editors@tamarackarcade.com, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include in the message. We use it only to read and reply to you, and to act on a correction if you sent one. We keep messages only as long as needed to reply and to keep track of corrections, then delete them.

We never add your address to a mailing list, and we never pass it to anyone else.

Play buttons and the sites they open

Clicking a play button takes you to the game’s official website in a new tab. That publisher may collect data under its own privacy policy, which is separate from ours. Some of these games offer accounts, chat or purchases, and their own settings control those features. We suggest reviewing them, especially for younger players.

PIPEDA and what you may ask of us

We handle personal information in line with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, known as PIPEDA. You may ask what personal information we hold about you, which in practice can only be emails you sent us, and you may ask us to correct or delete it.

If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, which oversees how organizations handle personal information.

Updates and how to reach us

If we ever change how the site handles data, for example by adding a new feature, we will update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect. Questions about privacy go to editors@tamarackarcade.com, and a real person on our small desk will answer.
